What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into your jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Over a period of weeks, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration — creating a stable, permanent anchor. A realistic-looking porcelain crown is then attached on top, completing the restoration.

The result: a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions like a natural one. You brush it, floss it, bite with it — and forget it's there.

Why Choose Implants Over Dentures or Bridges?

  • Permanent & stable: Implants don't slip, click, or require adhesive. They are fixed in place and feel completely natural.
  • Bone preservation: The titanium root stimulates your jawbone the way a natural tooth root does, preventing the bone loss that inevitably follows tooth extraction.
  • No damage to adjacent teeth: A bridge requires grinding down neighbouring healthy teeth as anchors. Implants stand independently.
  • Longevity: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. Most patients never need them replaced.
  • Natural appearance: Porcelain crowns are custom-shaded to match your natural teeth — indistinguishable to anyone looking at you.

Implant Options We Offer

Single Tooth Implant

One missing tooth replaced with one implant and one crown. The most common procedure — straightforward, predictable, and life-changing.

Multiple Implants

For patients missing several teeth in different areas of the mouth, individual implants can replace each tooth independently without affecting the surrounding teeth.

Implant-Supported Bridge

When several consecutive teeth are missing, two implants can support a multi-unit bridge — providing full restoration without filling every socket.

Same-Day Teeth (All-on-4 / All-on-6)

For patients who need to replace an entire arch of teeth, our Same Day Teeth procedure uses 4–6 strategically placed implants to support a full set of fixed teeth — often completed in a single day. Visit mynewteeth.ca for more on this transformative option.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Existing dentures can be converted to snap onto implants, dramatically improving stability and comfort for patients who wear conventional dentures.

The Implant Process — What to Expect

Step 1 — Consultation & Planning: Dr. Khalid reviews your dental and medical history, takes 3D imaging of your jaw, and creates a precise surgical plan. You'll understand the full process, timeline, and cost before anything begins.

Step 2 — Implant Placement: The titanium post is placed under local anesthesia (using the QuickSleeper for a completely comfortable experience). The procedure is typically 30–60 minutes per implant.

Step 3 — Healing (Osseointegration): Over 8–16 weeks, the implant fuses with the bone. A temporary restoration may be placed during this time. You'll have regular check-ins to monitor progress.

Step 4 — Crown Placement: Once the implant is fully integrated, your custom porcelain crown is fitted and attached. Your new tooth is complete.

Are You a Candidate?

Most adults with good general health are candidates for dental implants. Ideal candidates have sufficient jawbone density, healthy gums, and do not smoke heavily. Conditions such as controlled diabetes or previous bone loss do not automatically exclude you — Dr. Khalid assesses each patient individually.

The best way to find out is with a consultation. We'll give you an honest, thorough assessment and a clear treatment plan with transparent pricing.
